Emma Playing Pauline In ‘Ballet Shoes’!

Jo, the webmistress of Emma’s official site, has announced the rumors of Emma playing Pauline Fossil in Ballet Shoes are true - hurrah! Filming begins this month and the movie will air on the BBC around Christmas time.

We are happy to announce that Emma has been cast in a starring role in a new movie, being made by Granada for the BBC1, called Ballet Shoes. Emma will play the part of “Pauline,” the eldest of 3 orphaned sisters who lead a sheltered life until they begin at the Children’s Academy of Dancing and Stage Training. Only then do they begin to discover their special talents and extraordinary ambitions.

The feature length adaptation of the hugely popular book by Noel Streatfield begins filming this month and is set to appear on the BBC around Christmas time! It also stars Richard Griffiths, Robert Hardy and Victoria Wood. We’ll keep you posted when we have more.

  1. Does anybody know if people in the States will get to see it? I would love to watch it when it does come out, but is it only coming out for people who live in England?

  4. well, I looked around, and it might come to BBC America, if you have that channel, after it premieres. And it will probably more than likely be on dvd so that people who don’t live in Europe can buy it. Since Emma is in it and there are alot of fans of her, they will probably, hopefully, make it into a DVD.

  5. Aw I hope it comes out on DVD, because 1) I don’t leave in England.
    2) Don’t have cable, therefore even if it made it to BBC America I would still be left out. Rofl :)

  8. I guess so, Olivia! And Johnna, I’m in the same situation as you, so I agree! It’s pretty certain that’ll it’ll make it to DVD eventually, though. We’ll keep you updated if we find out anything for certain!

  13. *I* am not fighting. I chose not to name names, and I’m not taking this to e-mails because I’m not fighting! And I’m not having my intelligence insulted! I don’t know why you didn’t block Laura from this site, because she was bugging you about your style files and now she’s insulting me for defending you!
    So, Karly, please don’t tell us to take it to e-mails, ’cause you say no one wants to hear it, well, *I* don’t want to hear her. Or rather, read what she’s got to say. I refuse to take it to e-mails, because I want her to leave me and this site alone!

  14. I happen to like this site, and I will come here and enjoy it if I please, and I’d prefer not to be insulted when I do. You insulted me first, Samantha - this was originally between me and the staff at IHW, and it’s STILL between me and the staff at IHW. You’re the one being rude by continuing your childish tirade of insulting comments.

    And if you don’t want to read what I have to say, no one’s forcing you to. Just don’t look.

  15. Laura, you are insulting Samantha by calling her a brat and childish. If something is between you and the staff then it would be in an e-mail if you didn’t want others involved. But you put it in a comment, which means anyone can read it and they can reply to it as well. Don’t say that she is being rude and childish by commenting because I don’t see you not commenting. You are continuing to comment, so then you must be rude as well.
    That’s all I’m going to say because I’m not going to get caught up in this as well. I think it’d be smart of you to just stop now.

  20. yeah emma will be dancing, but she does loads of dance already and they’ve given her ballet training! they do make dvds of lots f tv dramas and i’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find it on you tube after it comes out even if they don’t its two hours long so that is 12 clips but if you put them in that quick list thing in order then click play all, it should play them allin order with about a 3 second pause every 10 mins so not to bad!
