April 26, 2008: Decision
We’ve been discussing the issue of paparazzi photos for quite a while now and in light of the recent near-scandal, we have decided to remove all candids from the gallery. We will post photos taken on film sets, in photography studios, on the red carpet, and at press conferences or other media events. Images taken “on the street” will not be posted.
Thank you all for your honest, thoughtful input on this contentious topic. There are many arguments made for and against candid images of celebrities, but we’re keeping away from those. We hold our own personal and moral ideas about what is appropriate and what is okay, and we’ll stick to these regardless of whether it will lose us visitors, popularity, or favor. The success of our fansite is not worth our personal honor and I hope those of you who wished the candids to be kept will understand and respect our decision.

its perfectly alright! for those you want to see they can go somewhere else. were here to see pictures of emma being happy anyway! good choice girls!

I understand the decison, it makes sense.
However, its pretty disappointing and perhaps a bit drastic. Not much, it just gives you a lot less to update with and yes less visitors.
I never thought paparazzi/fan pictures were that big of a deal. (im guessing fan pics count as well “images taken on the street”) And apparently Emma is’nt particularly upset over the distasteful photographs, or has simply gotten over the ordeal. (via Jo on the EW.net forums)
But if thats what you ladies think is best, well then its perfectly fine. It is your site after all.

I respect your decision, but I think you’ve lost loads of visitors and members of this site. I love this site, and I love those Emma Watson candid photos. I will continue going on here, because I honestly have to say, you guys have more HP Emma photos than any other Emma fansite I’ve ever seen.
But candids are basically what make celebrities famous. Other than premieres, press conferences, stuff like that. Candids are how the photos get into magazines and news stories get into magazines. If you are wondering, I am a big TMZ fan, I watch it everyday. It’s like an addiction. Photogs are a regular part of being a celebrity, and therefore so are candids. But, as I said, I respect your decision.

I respect your decision, and will keep visiting IHW.
But I was just wondering, will photos taken with fans still be allowed? If she is aware of the picture being taken, gave her consent, is posing in it?

While I do not *FULLY* agree with your desicion ( I still think you should have kept the “harmless” candids, but I understand what you mean when you say, “We hold our own personal and moral ideas about what is appropriate and what is okay,” ) I will still visit this site. Even when you take away the candid photos you just CANNOT deny that this IS the best Emma Watson site for news and PHOTOS.

yeah…i heard em wasnt so upset over those indecent shots of her…u know…but has gotten over it…prob. resolves to b more c’ful…which does suprise me a little…
anyway,keep up d good job..girls…and yes,it was not a near-scandal,but a scandal..considering who she is and the amount of trashy headlines and news it generated…omg!

i understand your decision but i also think that candids are what makes a celibrity famous. not that emme needs extra candids but there are certain things a celebrity has do deal with. i think emma is strong enough to get over the situtation.
anyway, i love your site and will continue to visit it…

I’m a faithful visitor to this site as it does post the best photos of emma out there. Candids I think are harmless to a point when the paparazzi over steps their bounds and very obscene photos get out there. But forbidding All candid photos just because of a few bad ones is kinda stupid in my opinion. Some of my favorite photos of Emma are candids taken.
If some bad ones got out there, simple solution, don’t post the bad ones. Keep the beautiful, clean ones up in the photo gallery. What harm is that? Its not gonna stop the paparazzi from trying to get more obscene ones. Its sounding like your trying to punish the paparazzi but instead, punish your faithful and loyal viewers of the site.
That being said, hope you change your mind. Very sad…

We all enjoy new pics of Emma . I think its time that her good fans stand up for Emma in this site or others . She is entitled to as normal life as possible so being selective on whats posted is a good thing and shows Emma the respect she deserves .
I’m as greedy as the next person I look forward to anything new on my favorite gal . My personal opinion is fans have a responsibility to be sensitive to Emma and her wants and needs .If all sites take the same attitude then the unwanted photography wont stop but will be considerably less with sites refusing to post the intrusive photos . The safer Emma feels will allow her to share some personal or candid things with us .I truly believe Emma sites need to work together to ensure respect and privacy for her . Emma should be able to enjoy her fans as much as we enjoy her Its a two way interaction .
