June 20, 2008: Away With Rumors!
Thanks to The Leaky Cauldron for digging into the recent rumors of Emma as a Chanel spokesperson and a new Harry Potter story for the theme park. Both have, somewhat unfortunately, turned out to be untrue. A spokesperson for Chanel explained “We’re not allowed to make statements when the reports are not true” and that “We are only allowed to speak to reporters about this. We cannot widely release a statement that the report isn’t true.” Warner Brothers debunked the rumors that J.K. Rowling wrote a new Potter story for the upcoming theme park, stating “Contrary to recent press reports, she has not written scripts for any films based on the Harry Potter ‘prequel’ (recently written and sold for charity) or otherwise, as part of the theme park or any other purpose.” And now the summer holidays begin at iheartwatson.net: the site staff will be vacationing from the site for the next several weeks, at least until July 12. In the meantime, you can keep updated at the Harry Potter Automatic News Aggregator (HPANA) or The Leaky Cauldron - happy summer!
June 15, 2008: Rumors Ahoy!
Thanks to The Leaky Cauldron for updating us on a slew of recent rumors! First, the Sunday Mirror is today reporting that Emma, Dan, and Rupert are filming “extra sequences and clips which will be part of the rides” at the Harry Potter theme park opening in Florida sometime in the next two years. The article reports that they will also be filming a brand-new Harry Potter story written by Rowling herself before beginning the Deathly Hallows films, and calls this a “mini-movie.” There’s more, though, this time about Emma specifically! The Daily Mail is reporting that Emma “has signed a two-year contract worth £3million” with Chanel to promote the Chanel fragrance Coco Mademoiselle. The current face of Coco Mademoiselle is Keira Knightley. Keira’s contract with Chanel expires this summer. The article continues on to say, “Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up. Chanel realises it is important to target a young audience.”, and that “Emma has been excitedly telling friends that she is going to be taking over from Keira.” I’ve uploaded a few scans from Emma’s appearance in Teen Vogue in 2005. If you have scanned the actual article - or have scanned any other magazines we don’t have up, for that matter! - I’d love it if you sent those in (via this form or our address, staff {at} iheartwatson {dot} net) and will certainly credit you for them. Many of you have also asked that we post about the Portrait Magazine poll in which Emma is nominated. I usually refrain from posting fan and more minor polls, but since there’s so much buzz about this one, definitely go check it out and vote! Emma is currently fourth on the list of the “Top 30 Under 30″ celebrities, with the Twilight cast leading by a large margin and Tokio Hotel and the Jonas Brothers pulling in second and third.
Emma Nominated For SyFy Award
Emma has been nominated for a SyFy award for “Best Actress.” Emma is contending with Helena Bonham Carter (”Sweeney Todd”), Claire Danes (”Stardust”), Nicole Kidman (”The Golden Compass”), and Gwyneth Paltrow (”Iron Man”). Daniel Radcliffe, J.K. Rowling, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are all nominated for awards as well. You will be able to vote for the winners from June 25 to July 25 at the SyFy site. Thanks to Emma Watson Official for letting us know! I’ve also added some behind-the-scenes and outtake photos from photoshoots with Teen Vogue that appeared on the Teen Vogue site to ihwmedia.net. We really do love to receive donations and suggestions from visitors! Please continue to send those in. I apologize for the delay in responding and updating the site but as soon as we have the free couple minutes we will definitely do our best to get back to you.
