Emma turns down Cinderella and Turns it on for The Bling Ring

Posted by Siobhan in New Videos Rumors The Bling Ring2 Comments

According to MTV Emma has decided against starring in the leading role in Kenneth Brannagh and Disney’s live action Cinderalla.

The former Harry Potter star was claimed to have been the first choice for the title role in the update of the classic fairytale – which will be directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh.

But now Variety reporter Marc Graser has tweeted: “Emma Watson has decided NOT to star in Disney’s CINDERELLA.”

The refusal is said to be owing to her already hectic schedule. Personally I think it’s a shame – all Kenneth Brannagh films are fabulous in my opinion; hello Lockhart!

Emma has also been rumoured recently, again, to be tied to 50 Shades of Grey. Although most sources are debunking the claims, the IBTimes tells us that the rumours generate from notorious hackers:

The rumours are believed to originate from a hacker team called M3du5a, working in conjunction with the globally known Anonymous Collective, and come from documents stolen from the German studio Constantin Film. A report by Cinema Blend states Watson has been shortlisted to play the naive but sexually adventurous young heroine. However, it is unclear if the documents in question are new or older papers, meaning Watson may have been considered for the role but is now not involved in the project.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features have responded by saying “no one has been cast yet”.

However, in a more positive light, one film we do know Emma is starring in is The Bling Ring – and this week the first official trailer was released which you can watch below!

I am having a few problems accessing our galleries at the moment, but new pictures from the film will be added shortly too.

Emma shoots down “Fifty Shades” rumours

Posted by Kaetlyn in Emma News Official Updates Rumors0 Comments

For the past week, news agencies have been reporting that Emma was in negotiations for the role of Anastasia Steele for the upcoming movie adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey”. Emma herself has broken the silence and shot down the rumours to Entertainment Weekly.

The Internet got all sorts of excited last week when rumors began to surface that Emma Watson was in talks for the role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Not so fast, says Watson. “I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing,” Watson tells EW. “There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – I never even saw a script!”

Watson is plenty busy: she has The Perks of Being a Wallflower in theaters this fall; she recently wrapped Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and is currently working on Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. She adds that even some friends and family asked her about Grey since so many different items linking her to the film have popped up online. “I told them just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s any less true than if there are three or four.”

And a word to the wise for those who believe everything that they read about the actress: “The thing is I’m not going to go out there every time someone attaches me to a film to say no or release a statement.” Via EW.com

Rumoured Project Update: Emma (officially) attached to “Beauty”

Posted by Kaetlyn in Beauty Emma News Movie News Rumors2 Comments

Late last July rumours were flooding the movie production sites about Emma’s involvement with Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming project, “Beauty”. Variety.com have updated the rumour and noted that Emma is “in final negotiations to topline the period pic”. The movie will be distributed by Warner Bros. and scripted by Andrew Davies.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the tale will be loosely based on the book “Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast” by Robin McKinley.

View our original article (dated 17 July 2011) for more information.

Edit: Wow, this is getting confusing again. Emma-Watson.net have added a little note to their update about this production with a note from author Robin McKinley.

According to Robin McKinley, she knows nothing about all this, other than Warner’s did option her novel in the past. She thinks it unlikely the movie will be made, and if it is, that it will have nothing in common with her novel beyond the Beauty/Beast premise. Perhaps it will be a loose adaption of just the title. Emma in talks for “Your Voice in My Head”

Deadline.com are reporting that Emma is set for a reunion with “Potter” director, David Yates, to star in an upcoming drama, “Your Voice in My Head”. According to the article, Warner Bros. are attempting to buy the script rights to produce the flick, with Yates as director. Emma would play “a young woman who attempts suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who’s dying of cancer”.

Collider.com added that, along with Emma as the female lead, George Clooney and Tom Hanks are currently in negotiations for the psychiatrist role.

Warner Bros is negotiating to acquire Your Voice in My Head, the Emma Forrest-scripted drama based on the scribe’s memoir that is expected to be the next film by director David Yates. The film is shaping up to be a Harry Potter reunion. Yates is in discussions with Emma Watson to star in the role of a young woman who attempts suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who’s dying of cancer. Further completing the Harry Potter reunion on Your Voice in My Head is the fact that Warner Bros. is negotiating to acquire the film. As for the male lead in the project, Deadline reports that the studio is aiming for a big name as Tom Hanks and George Clooney are apparently in the mix. Personally, I’m ecstatic to see Yates take on such delicate dramatic material. I felt he capped the Harry Potter franchise off perfectly with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, and I’m incredibly excited to see where he takes his career next. via Collider.com
