Modelling for People Tree
Emma announced her collaboration with People Tree in early 2010, hot off the heels of her first Burberry campaign, with the news breaking in January 2010. Her first line, “Love from Emma” for People Tree debuted in February 2010; the collection sold out within a matter of days. In July of that year Emma travelled to Dharka, Bangladesh with People Tree to inspect the factories and workers; Emma has often remarked that this visit, to the slums and to one of the poorest cities in the world, was extremely emotional. Her second collaboration with People Tree saw Emma taking a back seat in the design process, with Emma becoming the ambassador for the brand. In early 2011 she released her third and final collaboration with People Tree.

PEOPLE TREE SPRING/SUMMER 2010
As well as appearing as the face of Burberry Emma whetted her appetite once more in the fashion world by acting as a creative consultant for the “Love from Emma” range from People Tree. Using only the “absolute basics … [of her] wardrobe” for inspiration, Emma designed a range of clothing that is, in her words, “fabulous, colourful, comfy, and summery” and on top of all that, made from one hundred percent fairtrade and organic material. Launched in February 2010 the line appealed to the under-25 demographic of the world and includes loads of easy to accessorise tanks, shorts, blazers and shirts in bright colours; with the proceeds divided equally. Emma also flexed her photography and design muscles while she scouted for the absolute perfect location for the shoot and the ideas and styling behind the photographs. She was also a splendid big sister and good friend by asking her brother and her ex-flatmate to model the clothing for her catalogue.

PEOPLE TREE AUTUMN/WINTER 2010
Emma returned back to work with People Tree for Fair Trade in early 2010, although this time she took a backseat during the design process and instead, focused on being the official ambassador and endorser for the line. Emma took a more proactive role this time around and went with People Tree to tour the slums in Dhaka and the factory workers; while there, Emma participated in a few clothing-making activities such as washing the cloth in a giant basin, sewing a garment, helping weave cloth and even acted as a tutor for a day and bought the children lunch! Many press clippings from that time have Emma voicing her concerns for the welfare of workers and their families, the horrid living conditions and how she would press forward and promote fair trade clothing and items. Emma also modelled her favourite pieces from the season catalogue. She also appeared in a video appearance for People Tree at the Prince Charles “Garden Party with a Difference” to introduce the line.

PEOPLE TREE SPRING/SUMMER 2011
Emma’s third and final collaboration with People Tree saw Emma expanding her fashion horizons and trying new things with her designs. Emma designed the collection in her spare time during her semester at Brown University. The line debuted February 25th and was shot, as were the other campaigns, by one of Emma’s favourite photographers, Andrea Carter-Bowman. On her final collaboration Emma remarked: “Most of all, we took care to design a really wearable collection that truly celebrates the traditional skills of People Tree’s Fair Trade groups around the world.”
