Although previously shunning social networking sites, Emma has recently adopted means to communicate with her fans while she travels around the world, studies at Brown University and generally lives life as a regular girl-next-door.

Please note that while Emma does have all these places to communicate with fans she does deserve that her fans respect her privacy and that a healthy boundary between 'Emma-the-actress' and 'Emma-the-girl' should be maintained!

Quotes from Emma

“They went to an American high school, they know what prom looks like, all these little details that I had no idea about. So I was a little neurotic. My script was covered in notes about all these American words, American slang. I was quizzing my friends about high school and prom and everything, and then Steve was just like, ‘Emma, this is great and everything, but you just really need to let all of that go’ because he said he saw me as Sam, and it was kind of as simple as that.”
“I think it is unbelievably important that this film is made. Stephen receives letters regularly that say that reading ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ literally saved their life. I read the whole script in one sitting and it made me cry … it deals with the issues that teenagers go through, the real ones, the scary ones that no one really wants to talk about.”

“Sam is such a different girl from who I am. I’ve been listening to the Smiths on repeat for weeks.”

Movie Trivia

• In January 2011, Emma and writer-director Stephen Chbosky went to New York to petition major studios to fund the production. After presenting the script and the appeal of the movie to several production companies, “Perks” was picked up by Summit Entertainment. Chbosky noted that, “we wouldn’t be making the movie without her passion for it.”

• Emma jetted off to New York in the last week of April to meet up with principle actors, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. Before this week she had only met with Logan for screen testing.

• Emma, Mae, Ezra and Logan bonded by forming a makeshift punk band, “Octopus Jam”, while they stayed in hotels in Pittsburgh. Ezra was on (lamp) drums, Logan on keyboard, Johnny on guitar and vocals by Emma.

• Was one of the movies that would have it’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2012.

• The trailer was premiered at the MTV Movie Awards 2012. Emma, Logan and Ezra were on hand at the awards to introduce the trailer to the world.

• Initially was given an R-rating by the MPAA. However, as this would cut out the primary target audience of the film, Summit petitioned the MPAA into giving the movie a lower rating. After a brief deliberation the rating was dropped to PG-13.

• The first time Emma met Ezra Miller he was wearing duck pyjamas.
